Protecting your face when playing paintball is a must. Wear a paintball mask to make sure you are protected.
The protective gear worn during play in paintball is called a paintball mask. It prevents paint and paintball markers with speed up to 300 feet per second from hitting your face. It price ranges from less that $20 to $100. It could also be installed with accessories like headbands and visors to shield you from the glare.
Basically, what a paintball mask does is keep paintball markers for hitting your face. It also helps prevent you from ingesting paint through your eyes, nose, ear or mouth. The paint used in paintball is toxic and must not be ingested in any way. It also protects your nose and your eyes, which are sensitive, from getting hit. It also prevents any other sensitive part of your face to get irritated by the paint.
A paintball mask also helps prevent head injuries when you fall or trip during the game. A paintball mask must have adequate padding that fits the head snugly into the mask. The padding must contour your face and your head when you wear it but return to its original shape when you take it off. It must also be firmly glues onto the plastic of the mask.
You must be able to tighten or loosen the straps of the paintball mask without stretching it too much. Your mouth guard must not hit your chest when you look down.
A good paintball mask should also have a thermal or anti-fog lens. This is composed of two lenses with a small air pocket in between that stabilizes the heat on from your face and outside of the mask, preventing fogging on the lens.
You can also choose to install fans on top of the lens on your paintball mask. But not all masks are ready to be installed with fans. These fans evaporate moisture from your face. These can cost you a penny and would need batteries. It can also distract you with the noise it makes and can break easily.
Keeping your paintball mask clean is a must. First, you can run a rag over the mask to take out most of the paint on your mask. You can spray water on the paint to loosen it a little. Do not use any chemical or lens cleaner on your paintball mask. This may be harmful to your lens and could ruin it.
Be meticulous and clean out those little spaces in your masks. You can remove the lens on your paintball mask and clean its edges too. This will stop the paint from building up in those hard to reach places and trickling down on you or your lens, spoiling your vision during the game. Microfiber cloth is a good way to take the excess oil off the lens of your paintball mask. This helps your maintain a clear vision on your lens when you use it.
